Legendary for its connections with Avalon and other touchstones of British history, it is also marked indelibly with its now declined industrial history of shipping and mining. What has emerged to replace its pre-war power is very much the tale of British post-industrialism: a patchwork of recovering communities and rediscovery of identity and national pride. To know it is to love it. To visit it is to fall in love . |

About the Author of Wales Explorer App Expat
Canadian Jeremy’s Gluck’s lifelong love of
Britain began as a child enchanted with all
things British. After fledgling trips to Wales
(including as a musician in his band of yore --
the cult faves The Barracudas, who were
recording at legendary Rockfield Studios in Monmouth) and after
many years in London as a writer and musician,
Jeremy sealed the deal by marrying a girl raised
in Swansea, whence they
repaired in 1994 to give their three kids a
countryish life. What Wales Explorer Users Are Saying: "Love it ! A fabulous well thought out guide to God's country!" “Great app looking forward to my trip to Wales - thanks” “I love the layout of the map. Can the town names be just a little larger? Being able to pause the slide show and get info on that subject is great. Keep adding more pictures. ” “What a great travel experience without leaving my chair 5300+ km away (thanks to the location service). A handy guide, cleanly written with key info at your fingertips. Gluck's tight, approachable, and often clever style and editorial choices make this both entertaining and informative. His affection for Wales comes through and compels you to make a visit or at least dream of one. Ran nicely on my iPhone 4. His photo choices were even more exciting on my iPad.” "A well thought out and beautifully designed app. worth purchasing whether you visit Wales or not.” "This app is the perfect companion to anyone who wants to explore Wales (visitors and natives alike!) - it's fun to use and full of good ideas, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more or wondering how to make the most of this beautiful place. If you're considering visiting this app gives you a good idea of what Wales has to offer too! I've tried some of the other Wales guide-type apps and this is by far the best. Great stuff." |
